18 Things That Happen When You Sleep in Makeup

13. Cornea Scratches

It is important to remove eye makeup, particularly mascara, before dozing off in order to protect the eye health. Mascara tubes are the most likely playground for bacteria to emerge, and it becomes more vulnerable every time you pull out the wand. It is important to invest in a new mascara every three months to prevent this bacteria from causing harm to your eyes.

If you constantly sleep with your eye makeup, you are likely to suffer from eye inflammation as it can lead to blocked pores and sensitive glands, particularly the Meibomian Gland pores.

Dried mascara also causes the lashes to fall off, and if the lash ends up in your eye, it can even leave a scratch on the cornea, which has major hazards for your vision.
